Season Winds Down, Hayden’s Get Faster
The season is coming to a close as the weather is cooling off….but the action on the track is as hot as ever!!
Kyle was able to end the factory stock season at Dixie 2nd in the final standings. It was his first ever season on the flat quarter-mile, and he was able to take home one feature win along with many top-5’s. Even more impressive is the fact that he was able to finish 2nd in the final standings, even though he did not attend 2 races and had 3 other DNF’s due to accidents. When asked to reflect on the season at Dixie, Kyle said “It was an outstanding season at Dixie! We did not intend on running the full season there, but the I really adapted my abilities well to the track, and it showed. We only took home one feature, but we were in contention nearly every week. I couldn’t be happier with our Dixie season.”
Kyle also made his first trip this season to Spartan for the annual Harvest 250. The Auto City street stocks are fairly outmatched, but the Posse still made the trip to run with the Lansing boys. Kyle qualified 13th quickest with a 14.70. And, of course, the invert was a 12! Kyle was patient but had trouble avoiding a lot of the incidents in front of him. After bouncing off nearly everything but the wall, he slowly worked his way up to the 5th spot with 15 laps to go. The leaders then got together in front of him, and Kyle was able to move up to 4th, where he finished. Not bad after starting 14th!
This last Saturday at Auto City 3 Hayden’s were in action, plus Matt Mosier Jr. behind the wheel of the Sargent’s car. Kyle timed in 8th, Johnny 9th, while Curtis and Matt would be running the semi. However, Curtis could not make it that far, as a mechanical failure ended his night early. Matt also was involved in an altercation in the semi, as a lapped car got into him, which ended his night as well. Johnny started 2nd and Kyle 3rd for the 25-lap feature. Jay Woolworth jumped to an early lead, as Kyle slid by his cousin for 2nd. Johnny was just trying to hang on in the top 10 when he got a little loose and slammed the wall, which eventually ended his night as well. Meanwhile, Kyle was able to get under Jay Woolworth and pull away. A restart bunched the field up with 10 laps to go, but Kyle drove off on the restart and went on to his 3rd feature win of the season, 2nd at Auto City.
The boys will be back in action this Saturday night at Auto City as there are only 2 points races remaining, Kyle is sitting comfortably in the 3rd spot.
The #22 Auto Pride Collision/Duke’s Car Stereo factory stock will be on display at Auto Pride Collision on Pierson Rd. this Wednesday for “Race Talk” radio on 1470 a.m. It is always a fun time and you can check out the fabulous facilities that Auto Pride has to offer for basically any vehicle problems you might encounter!
See ya at the track!!
